Late Check-Out:

We are happy to accommodate a late check-out, provided your room is not booked for the same day. If you have a later flight, you're welcome to make use of our public spaces. Luggage can be stored at Reception. Please feel free to discuss your requirements with the manager on duty.

Barbeque facilities, wood and the necessary tableware can be provided on request. Please arrange well in advance.

Remember to lock your room when you're not in it, even if you're just going for breakfast or a stroll around the property. Your room key also includes a remote control for the gate access.

Please return your room key to the office when checking out.

A replacement charge will be levied for lost keys & remotes.

SAVE:

• We kindly ask that you turn off the lights and air conditioning when leaving your room.
• We also strive to save water through our laundry services. If you'd like to reuse your towel, please hang it on the towel rail. If you would like a fresh towel, please leave your used towel on the floor. For longer stays, we change the bedding every 3 to 4 nights. If you would like your bedding changed sooner, please let us know.

• The rooms and immediate areas surrounding the guest rooms are strictly non-smoking.
• Ashtrays are provided in the designated smoking areas.
• A fine of R1,000 will be charged for smoking in non-smoking areas.

We also ask that you keep noise levels respectful for the comfort of other guests. No noise is permitted after 22:00.

We offer laundry services.

• You’ll find a laundry list with prices in the laundry bag in your room.
• Please complete the list and drop your laundry off at Reception before 09:00 to ensure same-day service.
• While we take the utmost care doing guest laundry, it is handed in at your own risk.

All guests are welcome to use the pool at their own risk.

• Olive Tree Lodge will not be held responsible for any loss.
• All children should be accompanied by an adult when swimming.
• Towels to use at the pool can be found in the lounge. Please do not use your bath towel at the pool.

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA

We have made a list of a few of our favourite restaurants and some other things to do in the area. We are always happy to have a chat about the beautiful area we live in and the things to do around here.

SPICE ROUTE: (spiceroute.co.za) ‘The vision for Spice Route is to offer local and international tourists a selection of hand-picked artisanal producers who put as much thought, skill and passion into their products as Spice Route Winemaker, Charl du Plessis, puts into his wines.’

FAIRVIEW: (fairview.co.za) Right next to Spice Route, Fairview’s restaurant and wine and cheese tasting room is well worth a visit. ‘Without a doubt, the most recognizable members of the Fairview team are the goats who call our famous tower their home. These proud few represent the herd of more than 1000 female goats, which provide milk to our Vineyard Cheesery each day.’

UNDER OAKS: (underoaks.co.za) ‘Under Oaks is a working farm and a hands-on family business in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Award winning wines are available for tasting and sales from our welcoming tasting room. The Under Oaks pizzeria is housed in the original Jonkmanshuis and under majestic oak trees with magical views of the Drakenstein Mountains.’

BABYLONSTOREN: (babylonstoren.com) ‘The gardens at Babylonstoren looked to the past for inspiration, taking their cue from the Company Gardens of Cape Town, that supplied passing ships to the Cape with food in the 1600s. All of the more than 300 varieties of plants in the gardens of Babylonstoren are edible and supply the farm’s two restaurants: Babel and The Greenhouse.’

PICNICS:We highly recommend the picnics at Rhebokskloof (rhebokskloof.co.za) and Spier Wine Farm (spier.co.za). Find your perfect shady spot on the lawns and relax with good food and a glass of wine.

WINELANDS: The historic towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl and the wine farms surrounding them are definitely worth exploring. In each of these little towns you’ll find great restaurants, souvenir shops and beautiful historic architecture.

RIEBEEK KASTEEL: This quirky town is a short drive north of Wellington. It is one of the oldest towns in South Africa and well known for its olive and wine production.

BLAAUWKLIPPEN FAMILY MARKET: Nestled amongst the Stellenbosch vineyards, you will find the award winning Blaauwklippen Family Market. On Sundays, family and friends meet at this market which is the perfect venue for a family day out. You will hear on the grapevine – it is the friendliest market near Cape Town.
